No School Friday, January 27th.
Mammoth Spring School Staff Member
Our administrators have spent the morning traveling throughout the district and assessing road conditions. While we know that main roads are clear and several side roads are as well, some roads are still covered and traversing these roads in a personal vehicle is much different than trying to do so in a school bus full of children. As always, we will err on the side of student safety and make the determination for school tomorrow later in the day as we continue to assess conditions. That being said, we are going to move forward with our games at home tonight against Ridgefield Christian. These are conference games that are mandatory for our basketball teams to play. With the chance of winter weather next week and the amount of games that we still must play, there are very few chances to get these games in before the end of regular season next week. We want to make sure that our athletes, parents, coaches, and spectators know that participation in tonight’s events are not mandatory, as we are aware that everyone is dealing with different travel scenarios. It is simply a matter of getting conference play completed so that our teams have the opportunity to play in post season tournaments and not have to forfeit the hard work that they have put in so far this year. We look forward to seeing everyone in the Bear Den this evening, and hopefully in our hallways tomorrow morning.

The District learned yesterday evening from a parent that their student had overheard what they thought was a threat against the high school. The District immediately took action to investigate the threat and to inform law enforcement so that they could take appropriate steps to assure the safety of our students and staff, which is the District’s top priority. The District investigation and the cooperating local authorities have found that the threat was baseless. Due to confidentiality and privacy involving students and staff under applicable law, the District cannot comment further at this time but will provide any appropriate updates if additional information becomes available.
Tonight a student reported a potential threat to a Mammoth Spring Staff Member. Law enforcement has been notified, and an investigation is underway. Please know that per our school protocol, anyone involved in a potential threat is not allowed on our campuses until safety has been ensured for all involved. There will be additional law enforcement officials around the campus tomorrow.
